Contractor takes share of 800-strong civils specialist

Murphy has reestablished a presence in Australia for the first time since 2017 after a taking a stake in a 30-year-old infrastructure business.

The firm has bought a 40% share of Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure which was set up in 1994. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Based in Sydney, it employs more than 800 people and last year had a turnover of AUD $676m (拢327m).

In a statement, Murphy said: 鈥淭his strategic partnership expands Murphy鈥檚 geographical footprint into the ANZ region, building on its previous expansions in North America.鈥

In its last set of results, pre-tax profit at Murphy was up by half to 拢67m in 2023 on turnover down 5% to 拢1.4bn.
